"The National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) Cardiac Electrophysiology Symposium will be held on June 26, 2010 at the Phoenicia InterContinental Hotel in Beirut, Lebanon. The symposium will be part of the National Arab American Medical Association (NAAMA) 24th International Medical Convention, June 26 through July 1, 2010, in Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Elias Zerhouni, professor of radiology and biomedical research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and former director of the National Institutes of Health, will deliver the keynote address of the NAAMA’s Convention. The cardiac electrophysiology symposium will be sponsored by the NAAMA Lebanon Liaison Committee. It will be in collaboration with the Lebanese Society of Cardiology , the Egyptian Cardiac Rhythm Association, the Gulf Heart Association and the Saudi Heart Association. The symposium will start with an overview of cardiac electrophysiology in the Arab world and will include a half day series of scientific presentations and updates on topics such as Pacemakers Troubleshooting; Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy; Challenges in Device Implantation; Sudden Cardiac Death; Lead Management ; Management of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation, Persistent Atrial Fibrillation, Accessory Pathways and Ventricular Tachycardia; Supraventricular Tachycardia Cases; Arrhythmogenic Hereditary Syndromes; and Arrhythmias in pediatrics and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Continuing Medical Education units (CMEs) will be granted for this symposium. The convention, expected to attract some 600 attendees from the United States and the Middle East, is open to NAAMA members and non-members, physicians as well as healthcare professionals. In addition, the extensive social program will introduce the excitement of Beirut and the highlights of Lebanon. Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, NAAMA is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, educational and humanitarian organization whose members are of Arab descent, have close affinity with individuals of Arab origin or demonstrate a commitment to its mission and organizational objectives.
